Dictate Terms Source Copy
Date: 2026-09-26
This is the repository source copy for a public Dictate terms page, proposed at
https://arcforge.au/terms/dictate. The general https://arcforge.au/terms
covers Arc Forge's paid services and does not describe Dictate. Publish these
contents there and use that URL as the Microsoft Store terms link.
Who provides Dictate
Dictate is made by Arc Forge Labs (Samuel Rodda, ABN 66 913 411 628), Adelaide, South Australia.
Free, with nothing to buy
Dictate is free. There is no account, no subscription, no in-app purchase and no paid tier. We will not ask you for payment details.
Licence
Dictate is open-source software under the MIT licence (https://github.com/arcforgelabs/dictate/blob/master/LICENSE). You may use, copy, modify and share it under that licence.
Dictate includes third-party software and the Parakeet speech model from NVIDIA, each under its own licence. Those licences apply to those parts.
Your dictation stays yours
Dictate transcribes on your device and does not send us your audio or text. We claim no rights in anything you dictate. How Dictate handles data is described in the Dictate privacy policy at https://arcforge.au/privacy/dictate.
Use it responsibly
Transcription can be wrong. Check anything important before you rely on it, especially for medical, legal, financial or safety matters.
Dictate types into whichever app has focus. You are responsible for what it types and where, and for following the law and the rules of the apps you use, including getting consent where the law requires it before recording other people.
Provided as is
Dictate is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, as set out in the MIT licence. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
Where you got it
If you install Dictate from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft's terms for the Store also apply to that download. Installs from GitHub are subject to GitHub's terms for that download.
Support
Support is best-effort, through https://github.com/arcforgelabs/dictate/issues. There is no guaranteed response time.
Changes
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page, with its date.
